I'm Back!

Friday, February 10, 2017

Hi everyone!

After a year-long hiatus, I have decided to get back into the blogging game. I am finally at a point in my life where I feel like I can handle it! When I started this blog (2014), I had just graduated college and was just trying to figure out life. I knew I had a passion for health and nutrition and used this blog to represent that and to help others. I started taking clients, writing fitness and nutrition plans and, to be honest, I got a little overwhelmed! So I am taking a step back and am going to use my platform to help others stay motivated by posting healthy recipes, a wide variety of workouts and inspiring words!

Now, I'm not trying to make excuses for my absence (like yall even noticed haha) but from August 2015-June 2016, Chris and I moved 3 times. I had to find new jobs everywhere I went, make new friends, and really just find my "groove" in each of these places. It wasn't easy! And, unfortunately, this blog went on the back burner. BUT I'M BACK NOW! And ready to share all of my tips, tricks, recipes and exercises that I use to stay on track with a healthy lifestyle.

I have given my blog a little "face lift", so bear with me while I figure it out! A lot of my older posts have very pixelated pictures, and I am going to try to add new pictures. I guess that means I have to make all this delicious food again! ~*shrugging girl emoji*~ My new posts will be much more friendly to the eyes, promise!

I'm going to do a quick little photo recap of my life over the past year or so because who doesn't like going back through pictures and re-living the good in life??

On August 29, 2015 I married the love of my life in our waterfront hometown. It was magical. My babygirl Cricket was there, obviously. It was the most perfect summer day and I am so very thankful! Our photographer, Melissa Barrick did such an amazing job so excuse me while I relive this day through photos!

The day after the wedding, I moved to Florida with Chris! Seriously, the DAY after. I'm that crazy. We settled in to our home in Florida and a couple months later found ourselves moving to South Texas! I found a job as an Assistant Fitness Director and settled in nicely. I met some great people, ate some delicious food and then we were off to another location in Texas! And here I am now, 6 months after moving again working at a small FBO a couple towns over and just loving life :)

Chris and I adopted another German Shorthaired Pointer, Hazel, in August 2016. She is so perfect! So spunky, happy and hungry ALL THE TIME (just like her momma lol). She has been annoying Cricket since day one, and I think Queen Cricket is still adjusting hahaha They love each other, just look at them :)

I trained for and ran my first half marathon and ran it in the pouring, freezing rain in December 2016. OK maybe it wasn't "freezing" but 55 and raining is like snow when you train in 90+ degrees with 100% humidity for 8 weeks! One more complaint--the route was .17 miles LONGER than it was supposed to be and mentally, that was the worst thing ever. I ran with my friend, Leigh (pictured below, couldn't have done it without her), and when her Garmin watch hit 13.1 and the finish line wasn't in sight, I thought I might die then and there. I'm so dramatic lol Our 13.27 time ~*insert eyeroll*~ was 1:55.44 (8:43/mile pace). Not bad in my opinion!

Mile 13.1; probably convincing myself I don't have knees so "they can't possibly hurt".
Since then, I have been trying to keep my endurance up while also gaining muscle back. Hmm.. potential blog post, maybe? Anyways, I am really excited about sharing more tips, tricks, recipes and workouts! I hope that I can help just one person along the way who needs a pick-me-up or some motivation to get their health on track. While I am not taking any clients at the moment, please feel free to contact me (using the contact form tab up top) with any questions, comments or concerns you have! I would love to help in anyway that I can.
